Advanced studies in Japanese linguistics

8 or 12 points +2 hours per week + First semester + Clayton + Prerequisites: Completion of or concurrent enrolment in level B Japanese language

Synopsis This subject covers a selection of topics from Japanese linguistics, such as phonology, syntax, lexicon and the writing system. There will be emphasis on methods of collection of data and techniques of enquiry.

Students who have not studied this subject at the undergraduate level are required to attend an additional two-hours of undergraduate lectures per week.

Assessment (8 points) Project (3000 words): 45% + Review or transcript (2000 words): 15% + Test (1.5 hours): 40%

Assessment (12 points) Project (4500 words): 45% + Review or transcript (2000 words): 15% + Test (2.5 hours): 40%
