Post advanced Indonesian (Summer)

12 points + 35 hours per week + 6-week intensive + Third semester (Summer) + Indonesia + Prerequisites: INM4310.06 and INM4320.06

Synopsis Students will enrol in this subject to have their results accredited to their degree at `Post advanced Indonesian' level. Students will select Indonesian Level IV at the Sanata Dharma University in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. In this subject stress is laid on the active mastery of Indonesian, both spoken and written. Students learn how to prepare and deliver short talks appropriate to particular occasions; how to write different types of letters according to purpose; and how to produce essays on prescribed topics, drawing on Indonesian sources. Classes consist of three one-hour lectures, a one-hour small group tutorial and two hours of one-to-one tutorial based around field activities and workshops. Students are also required to participate in one weekend fieldtrip and several social activities or ceremonies.

Assessment Fortnightly oral and written examinations + Final oral and written examination + Assessment is also focused on cultural competencies exhibited by students + NB Granting of accreditation to a Monash degree is dependent upon passing an exam at Monash University, in the Department of Asian Languages and Studies on return to Australia.
