Gender, sexuality and social control
6 points + 3 hours per week + First semester + Caulfield
Synopsis The social construction of sexuality understood in an
historical context; the changing definitions of masculinity and femininity;
alternative sexualities; sexualities; sexuality and power; women's bodies:
changing imagery and the construction of sexual difference; the control and
regulation of sexuality; control through medicalisation; commercialisation of
sexuality.
Assessment Written (4500 words): 100% + Assessment is on a pass/fail
basis
