Development studies: theories and approaches to policy

Synopsis The aim of this subject is to understand the origins and purposes of development studies. Because development studies is a multidisciplinary area, the contributions of various disciplines and the debates within them about development are examined, followed by an exercise requiring students to form a multidisciplinary team appraising a development project design document.

Assessment One essay (4000 words): 40% + Development project appraisal (5000 words): 60
