Communications and media history

Synopsis This subject is designed to provide an overview of significant developments in Australian communications and media history by concentrating on three important decades: the 1880s, the 1930s and the 1960s. Students study these decades in detail looking at technological developments, newspaper and magazine formats, journals of public opinion and the treatment and reportage of news.

Assessment (8 points) Long essay (4000 words): 50% + Two seminar papers (1250 words each): 20% each + Seminar participation: 10%

Assessment (12 points) Long essay (5000 words): 60% + Three seminar papers (1250 words): 10% each + Seminar participation: 10%
