Sources and methods

8 or 12 points + One 2-hour seminar per week + First and second semester + City/Clayton

Synopsis The subject is organised around five major areas, each having implications for both sources and methods, viz. bibliographical research, population and housing statistics, repositories/providers of sources, film and visual sources, opinion poll data and market research. Also included are field trips to both repositories of information (eg libraries), and generators, interpreters and presenters of information (eg newspapers, market research organisations).

Assessment (8 points) Essay (3000 words): 50% + Four assignments (750 words each): 10% each + Class participation: 10%

Assessment (12 points) Essay (4000 words): 40% + Five assignments (1000 words each): 10% each + Class participation: 10%
