Objectives By the completion of this subject students are expected to have demonstrated that they are able to evaluate their own work critically and that of others within an historical and contemporary context and that they are able to express this in both written and verbal form; that the work produced has reached a high degree of resolution regarding technical elements and presentation; that they are able to work independently; and that they have developed a curiosity and method of inquiry which enables them to question and discuss the issues relevant to current art theory and practice.
Synopsis Students will be expected to devise their own work proposal at the beginning of the semester. This will be in the form of a written document which will outline the basic concepts of the proposed work. This should include a discussion of the source material and technical aspects of the work as well as reference to relevant historical and contemporary contexts. This proposal will form the basis of a work contract between the student and lecturer.
