6 points + 5 studio hours per week + First/Second semester + Gippsland + Prerequisites: GVA1421

Objectives By completion of this subject students are expected to have developed a proficiency to undertake problem-solving skills in selected technical areas within the media of wood, metal and plaster; a more advanced understanding of the formal language of sculpture; an ability critically to address their work within conceptual, technical and aesthetic frameworks; an ongoing awareness with health and safety procedures in the wood and metal workshops; and a familiarity with the work of various artists/craftspersons.

Synopsis Students will participate in a range of activities which lead to the examination of formal topics relevant to the disciplines. Through projects and exercises, students will be able to explore practical and conceptual issues at the beginning of various sessions. The work of contemporary sculptors and artists will be observed and investigated on a regular basis.

Assessment Attendance and participation: 30% + Folio submission: 70%
