Objectives By the completion of this subject students are expected to have an understanding of firing techniques and their aesthetic consequences; a developing appreciation of the form/surface relationship; a self-critical process of evaluation; a disciplined attitude to work; established reading habits and a general knowledge of artists' work styles; and further knowledge and awareness of safety issues.
Synopsis Further development building on the major topics in GVA1311. Regular firing cycles in shared kilns are encouraged to build understanding of the whole process. Participation in half-semester group projects is the basis for learning.
Assessment Studio participation: 20% + Set projects: 20% + Final show of work: 60%
