6 points + 4 studio hours per week + Full-year subject + Caulfield

Objectives On successful completion of this subject students will be able to understand basic perceptive and projection skills; demonstrate observational skills that include the ability to analyse form and volume in terms of tone, line, colour, shape and space; show proficiency in a broad range of drawing styles in a variety of mediums as a basis for their visual communication; understand the historical and conceptual frameworks that form meaning in their visual communication.

Synopsis Drawing is taught with the introduction and development of analytical, conceptual and communication skills which include expressive and emotive execution. Use of drawing instruments, materials and techniques through workshop, combined with projects, form a foundation for technical and general illustration. Figure drawing: draped, undraped, analysis and rendering of form and structure through outline contour, straight line, curved line, tone, visual measurement and movement is studied, together with a basic understanding of skeletal and muscle construction.

Assessment General drawing assigned projects: 60% + Figure drawing: 40%
