Drawing

10 points + 3 studio hours per week + Full-year subject + Caulfield + Prerequisites: FNE2900

Objectives On successful completion of this subject, students will possess a high degree of competence in drawing; a practised eye for the formal, expressive or perceptual subtleties of drawing; a personal view of the role of drawing within the fine arts, supplemented, where appropriate, by recent theoretical literature; an active interest to extend the applications of drawing as (i) a work of art in its own right, (ii) a tool in the development of work in another medium and (iii) an element among others in the context of other genres.

Synopsis The focus at this level of the course will be on the further qualitative development of drawing skills, concepts and methods, especially in relation to the students major areas of study. Emphasis will be placed also on the pursuit of a personal mode of expression.
