Painting

36 points + 9 studio hours per week + Full-year subject + Caulfield + Prerequisites: FNE2400

Objectives By the completion of this subject students are expected to have demonstrated a high degree of competence in painting; that they are able to evaluate their own work critically and that of others within an historical and contemporary context and that they are able to express this; that the work produced has reached a high degree of resolution; that they are able to work independently; and that they have developed a curiosity and method of inquiry which enables them to question and discuss the issues relevant to current art theory and practice.

Synopsis This subject is the culmination of the previous two years of study. Through consultation with their lecturers and group discussion understanding of individual development; mature use of subject matter; interpretation and self-expression; self-motivation and self-appraisal will be fostered. The use of drawing for concept development will also be explored.
