Painting

10 points + 4 studio hours per week + Full-year subject + Caulfield

Objectives On successful completion of this subject, students will possess an understanding of the formal language of painting, especially composition, volumetric relationships and colour; an elementary command of the resources of representation, especially relating to perception of a suitable motif; a critical eye for aesthetic cliches; curiosity about the relationship between painting and their major study.

Synopsis This subject will be concerned with the acquisition of fundamental painting skills. Aspects of painting dealt with will include design, form, space, colour analysis, and preparation and use of materials.
