PRIZES
The Lucato Peace Prize
A prize of $500, sponsored by Mr and Mrs George Lucato, awarded by competition
to the best work produced by a student of fine art at Caulfield, in a chosen
medium of their studies (painting, printmaking, sculpture and tapestry).The aim
of the award is to promote the idea that `peace is always a better alternative
to war'.
The National Gallery of Victoria Trustees Award
An award of $700 to one student completing the final semester of his or her
major studio in the Bachelor of Arts (Visual Arts). The criteria for selection
will be based on overall excellence and quality of the work presented in the
final semester of studio work. Each member of the academic staff will normally
nominate one student for the award, and during assessment week, the work of the
nominated students will be available for viewing in the gallery. All academic
staff (including the head of the school) will be expected to vote using the
`senate voting procedure'.
Patrons Awards
Five awards, each of $200, to students enrolled at any level of the
undergraduate course at Gippsland. One student will be selected from each of
the following areas: art history and theory, ceramics, painting, printmaking
and photography, sculpture and woodcraft. The recipients will have shown great
commitment and effort within the area throughout the year. The academic staff
in each discipline will be responsible for selecting the prize winner for their
respective area.
Mid Valley Shopping Centre Scholarship
A scholarship valued at $200 awarded to a first-year Bachelor of Arts (Visual
Arts) student of Gippsland origin or who has received his/her education in
Gippsland, and who has entered Monash University, Gippsland campus through a
college of TAFE. The recipient of this award is announced following the first
semester board of examiners at the end of June. A chosen example of the
student's work is to be available for display in the shopping centre management
office during the balance of the subject year.
