All specialisations in primary and/or secondary education are accredited by the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT).
Any initial teacher education student due to complete their course between 1 July 2016 and 31 December 2019 are strongly encouraged to complete the National Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education Students prior to graduation.
Any initial teacher education student who will complete their course on or after 1 January 2020 will be required to meet the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) teacher registration requirement of achieving the standard in the National Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education Students prior to being course completed.
Graduates are eligible for registration with VIT and qualified for employment as school teachers in Australia. Registration with VIT is recognised by teacher regulatory authorities in all Australian jurisdictions; to teach interstate or overseas, graduates need to check registration requirements with local authorities.
Specialisations in early years education* are accredited by the Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA). From 30 September 2015, graduates in early years education specialisations will be required to register with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT)*.
