Synopsis

This unit focuses on theories of learning that emphasise contemporary rather than classical theories of learning. Key concepts from different perspectives are dealt with. Students will consider these theories and the key concepts as they relate to the different contexts of learning including the workplace, social movements and community development.

Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this unit students should be able to:

apply theoretical perspectives to situations in daily life
examine situations significant to them and their practice and develop abilities to employ a comparative analysis to their exploration of adult learning theories as well as learning contexts.

Assignment (individual essay) (4000 words, 50%)
Assignment (group essay) (2400 words equivalent, 30%)
Activity in discussions (1600 words equivalent, 20%)
