Synopsis

Research project and Literature Review.

Outcomes

On completion of this unit students will be able to:

Search and analyse research literature;

Write a comprehensive research survey of a topic in astronomy and astrophysics;

Understand the current state of knowledge on their chosen research problem;

Perform guided research on their chosen topic at a level close to that required to publish in a research journal;

Write a comprehensive honours thesis that clearly presents their results and their justifications.

Literature review (comprising written report and oral presentation): 16.7%
