This program provides doctoral candidates (PhD) with the opportunity to focus on developing knowledge and expertise in their chosen discipline, as well as developing professional skills that will support candidate's career ambitions.

Each candidate's research will be supported by the development of a range of skills that will help them to become more efficient researchers, ultimately improving the quality of the research and developing generic/transferable skills of value to prospective employers.

Program requirements

Coursework component

All candidates must complete the following units, prior to specified candidature milestones:

Skills training component

Candidates must, in consultation with and under the direct supervision of a member/s of the academic staff, undertake research training activities that best suit their interests and area of study.

Skills training units

All PhD candidates in this program enrol in the following training units at the beginning of their candidature:

  • OHS1000 Introduction to art and design health and safety
  • RST0005 Responsible research

A grade of satisfied/not yet satisfied will be recorded for RST0005 at the end of the candidature.
