Synopsis

Introduction to principles & practice of ergonomics. Occupational hygiene as applied to physical hazards: noise, radiation, thermal environments & pressure effects.

Outcomes

On completion of this unit students should be able to:

describe the properties and effects of common physical hazards;
conduct simple measurements related to ergonomic and physical hazards and interpret the results;
demonstrate the use of an hierarchical approach to controlling hazards and risk;
conduct an workplace risk assessment using a systems model;
