This core unit is designed for early childhood professionals in order to enhance their own professional practice. Students/professionals engage in a critical analysis of early childhood research that informs their practice and the practice of others. The characteristics of early childhood educational research are discussed, particularly as this relates to constructing appropriate questions or problems for investigation, critical review of literature, and research design. Students/ professionals engage with early childhood research that challenges traditional thinking. The unit provides a framework for students/professionals to demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the body of knowledge in their specific professional fields. They investigate the complex areas of professionalism and praxis.
On completion of this unit, students will have developed:
Assessment 1: Written assignment - 4000 words (50%); and
Assessment 2: Written assignment - 4000 words (50%)
