SynopsisThis unit builds on the prior knowledge of the health care professional with respect to anatomy, physiology and pathology of the lung, breast, prostate, head and neck, metaststic disease, rectum and bladder. It also covers oncological aspects of these cancers and the factors associated with selection of the appropriate treatment, depending on the grade and stage of the disease and the patient history. Patient care and psychological effects of a diagnosis of cancer are also introduced and students are expected to reflect on their experiences relating these to current literature for all aspects of the unit.
