SynopsisThis unit examines the functioning of the business firm and the public enterprise as social as well as economic institutions and studies individual and group behaviour in these institutions. Social systems theory provides the general framework within which the unit is developed. Individual personality and behaviour -- human endeavour and motivation, attitude change, ability and skill development, personality and work; group composition and interaction -- interpersonal relations and social interaction, the nature and properties of groups, leaders and leadership, group effectiveness; the organisation as a whole and the way it functions at different levels of effectiveness.
