SynopsisThis unit deliberately bridges the nexus between theory and practice. While undertaking a critical and theoretical engagement with filmed texts from the contemporary independent cinemas of Southeast Asia students are also asked to be a part of a team in making an independent short digital film. Their exposure to the independent cinema culture of the region should help to inspire both the creative and practical processes of their filmmaking project. Students will have an opportunity to gain experience with the use of digital video camera equipment, sound systems, lighting and both editing and sound mixing using up to date computer based digital video editing software.
