Monash University Handbook 2010
Introduction to the faculty - Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences
The Monash Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences is the largest faculty of its kind in Australia, and a dynamic part of the largest university in Australia, with curricula spread across metropolitan and rural sites across two countries.
Through ten schools, two research institutes and 29 research centres in Australia and Malaysia, our 3000 staff deliver teaching and learning programs recognised for their quality, and pursue research that enhances our reputation for innovation in medical science.
Monash offers the broadest suite of programs across health and medical disciplines of any Australian university, training students in areas as diverse as radiography, nursing, psychology, medical imaging and radiation sciences, social work and paramedic and ambulance studies.
The diversity of our teaching, and of our research disciplines in the faculty is reflected in the structure of our schools, departments, centres and institutes. The faculty also works with four metropolitan health service provider networks (Bayside, Eastern, Southern and Peninsula), the state-wide ambulance serviceMetropolitan and Rural), and with major rural health services in Gippsland, Bendigo and Mildura. It also has relationships with professional associations and individual practitioners in general and specialist medical practice throughout Victoria.
