DescriptionThis course provides students with the opportunity to pursue in-depth study in the area of English while completing a bachelors degree or double degree in other fields. Students study a variety of literary modes and several ways of speaking and writing about literature. They also have the opportunity to specialise in, or study a variety of, literary cultures, including those from American, Asian, Australian and British cultures. Other areas of specialisation include children's literature, medieval to contemporary literature, modern poetry, publishing, women's writing, postcolonial literature, critical theory, and the study of writing itself including professional and fictional writing. StructureThis course consists of a standard 48 point major consisting of a first year sequence of 12 points and one of the following:
