The focus is on the application of techniques of atomic and molecular analysis for the identification, qualitative and quantitative analysis of pharmaceuticals and related compounds. Methods include titrimetric analyses, spectrophotometric analyses, atomic absorption/emission spectroscopy, electroanalytical methods including potentiometry, coulometry, conductometry, voltammetry and polarography, chromatographic applications such as gas-liquid chromatography, high performance liquid chromatography and planar chromatography Objectives
At the completion of this unit, students will: AssessmentFinal exam: 70% (3 hours). Practical exam 10%; Practical work 20%; Contact hours36 hours of Lectures and Tutorials; 9 x 4hr Practical experiments. PrerequisitesVPS1022 Organic chemistry II and VPS1072 Physical chemistry II. |
