VCP4092 - Drug development3 points, SCA Band 2, 0.0625 EFTSLUndergraduate Victorian College of PharmacyLeader: Dr Michelle McIntoshOfferedParkville Second semester 2008 (Day) SynopsisThe overall aim of this unit is to provide students with a knowledge and appreciation of the steps taken to develop a drug from design or discovery to a pharmaceutical product and to present an overview of the pharmaceutical industry and its peak organizations and associations. ObjectivesIn this unit, students will develop the following, an understanding of how drug candidates are identified or discovered, an understanding of how a drug is developed, an appreciation of what's involved in clinical testing, insight into the drug regulation and registration processes, an appreciation of marketing aspects and an overall understanding of the Pharmaceutical Industry.
