VCP3042 - Pharmacology II B3 points, SCA Band 2, 0.0625 EFTSLUndergraduate Victorian College of PharmacyLeader: Dr Jennifer ShortOfferedParkville Second semester 2008 (Day) SynopsisThis unit builds on previous units in pharmacology, with a focus on the central nervous system; physiology, pathophysiology and pharmacology. In particular, the role of the reticular formation, hypothalamus, basal ganglia and limbic system will be studied, with an emphasis on drugs related to function and dysfunction in these systems. ObjectivesAt the end of this unit students will be able to:
AssessmentPracticals and practical assessment and one end of semester examination worth 60%. Contact hours24 x 1 hour lectures per week, 4 x 3 hour tutorials and 1 x 1 hour full class tutorial. It is expected that this unit will require participants to allocate an average of 6 hours per week for 13 weeks (a total of 78 hours per study period) to successfully complete this unit.
