Synopsis

Clinical participation in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) examinations of the head and neck, spine, thoracic and abdominal regions of patients recognising normal anatomy and common pathophysiological appearances.

Objectives

On successful completion of this unit students will be able to:

  1. implement departmental safety protocols;

  1. participate and assist in magnetic resonance examinations of the central nervous system, thoracic and abdominal regions and extremities on patients under strict supervision;

  1. implement basic magnetic resonance imaging methods under close supervision;

  1. apply basic quality assurance principles to magnetic resonance imaging systems; and

  1. identify personal learning goals in respect to the initial development of professional expertise in magnetic resonance imaging.

Assessment

Clinical studies procedural record: 40%
clinical assessments: 2x 10%+ Professional development contract (4 case studies): 40%

Co-requisites

Only available to students enrolled in the Bachelor of Radiography and Medical Imaging.
