Clayton Second semester (extended) 2008 (Day) SynopsisThis unit provides an understanding of the scientific principles underpinning magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), its associated instrumentation and protocols, positioning methods and biological protection principles. Physics/imaging topics include: the physical elements of magnetic resonance, the physics of magnetic resonance imaging, experimental and design considerations, commonly used pulsed sequences in MRI and advanced topics in MRI. MRI methods topics include: technological considerations in clinical MRI, clinical MRI of the central nervous system (brain and spine), musculoskeletal imaging (shoulder, hip, knee and ankle), MRI of the abdomen and pelvis and vascular applications of MRI.
