Gippsland First semester 2008 (Off-campus) SynopsisHealth education and promotion are essential aspects of the role of the professional nurse. This unit explores the principles underpinning health promotion as a strategy to improve health status of nations through a process that empowers individuals, groups and populations. In addition, educative and motivational processes are explored to assist you develop skills that will allow you to be an effective promoter of health. As you work through this unit, you will gain an understanding of these processes and their application in practice. Objectives
The aim of this unit is to equip professional nurses with the knowledge, skills and attitudes that will enable them to develop their role as a promoter of health, in the context of their future and current work environments. On completion of this unit and further reading, the student is expected to be able to:
