Gippsland First semester 2008 (Day) SynopsisThis unit will further develop the student's knowledge, skills and attitudes relevant to the restoration and maintenance of optimal mental health and recovery from mental illness. Students are expected to care for people with selected mental disorders including psychotic disorders, personality disorders, eating disorders, delirium and dementia, and substance-related disorders. Emphasis is placed upon empowerment of the individual and caregiver using the stress/vulnerability model and carer based management. The unit also encompasses management of aggression, crisis intervention and case management, the importance of self care. Objectives
