The theory of ethnomusicology, covering works of major ethnomusicologists from the late nineteenth century to the present. ObjectivesBy the end of the semester, students undertaking this unit should have acquired a wide critical reading knowledge of the literature; an understanding of approaches in Australian, European, American and Asian ethnomusicology; an ability for coherent argument; and a confidence in applying various ethnomusicological techniques to a wide range of topics of music.
