Berwick First semester 2008 (Day) SynopsisIntroduction to the major differences between domestic and IHRM; cultural, social and ethical issues for IHRM; IHRM planning, policies and procedures; international relations and evaluation of host country environments; recruitment and selection; remuneration; training and compensating expatriates; maintaining the employment relationship within international operations. ObjectivesThe learning objectives of this unit are to:+ describe the environment and context of International Human Resource Management(IHRM);+ identify and analyse country/regional characteristics and organisational factors that are of importance for managing human resources internationally;+ identify and develop key components of IHR strategy and IHR practice for an international firm;+ assess the impact of IHRM strategy and practice on an international firm's concerns, goals and structures;+ evaluate strategies for the establishment and maintenance of ethical and sound employment relationships within international organisations.
