Synopsis

Theory of organisation change and development, OD and metaphor, the client-consultant relationship, diagnosis, interventions, organizational learning, resistance to change, managing resistance to change, evaluation and institutionalization of change, transformation and cultural change, future directions, revision.

Objectives

The learning objectives of this unit are to:

  • discuss some of the major conceptual models underlying the OD change process;
  • analyse the roles of the OD practitioner and his/her relationship with the client;
  • identify the differences between radical and incremental approaches to change;
  • utilise and understand the importance of diagnostic techniques;
  • identify intervention techniques relevant to specific organisational problems.
