Synopsis
This unit examines the management of tourist attractions. Topics include conceptualisation and planning, theme parks, heritage attractions, interpretation, authenticity, visitor impacts, seasonality and co-operative marketing.
Objectives
The learning objectives of this unit are to:
- identify the range and diversity of tourism attractions;
- explain and analyse theories of authenticity and dissonance to attractions;
- distinguish and analyse models and theories of tourist motivation;
- analyse tourist expectations and drivers of satisfaction;
- explain and critique tourist decision-making, experience and on-site behaviour.

Within semester assessment: 60%
Examination (2 hours): 40%
