This is the final core unit of the Graduate Certificate in Emergency Preparedness and Disaster Medicine. The unit will outline general principles of recovery following major events using a sample of recent major events from Australia, Oceania and/or Asia. The unit will explore the ongoing community health support that may be required, the psychosocial issues of recovery, and the restoration of health infrastructure following major events.
By the completion of this unit the student should be able to:
Pre-block reading task (1,000 words) (10%), 4 x worksheets during block (500 words each) (20%), 2 x assignments (2,000 words each) (70%).
5 day full-time block, comprising lectures, tutorials, case-based discussion, interactive learning in small groups, and WebCT-based support.
