Synopsis

This unit aims to educate students in object oriented programming, with an emphasis on the development of commercial applications. Students will be introduced to basic software engineering principles and the software development life-cycle, and an emphasis will be placed on the development of problem-solving skills in the object oriented environment.

Objectives

At the completion of this unit students will:

  1. Understand and appreciate basic software engineering principles;
  2. Understand the concepts underpinning the object oriented programming model;
  3. Be practically conversant with the design, development and testing of object oriented applications;


Assessment

Examination (3 hours): 60%
Two practical assignments: 20% each
