Synopsis

The Internet is now an essential part of business communication and commerce activities. This unit focuses on technologies that enable business transactions over the Internet. Main topics include: Internet protocols and standards for electronic commerce. Security issues and technology. Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and the Internet. Secure payment systems and standards. XML and Internet Commerce.

Objectives

At the completion of this unit, students will have knowledge of:

  1. Internet technologies and their use in business activities

At the completion of this unit, students will have understanding of:
  1. Internet securities issues and technologies
  2. EDI operation and its role in Internet Commerce
  3. Various secure payment systems
  4. The use of XML in Internet commerce
  5. Potential and risks of Internet commerce

At the completion of this unit, students will have skills in:
  1. writing basic XML documents

At the completion of this unit, students will have attitudes of:
  1. Using latest technology in business actvities.
