ENV4030 - Environmental Analysis6 points, SCA Band 2, 0.125 EFTSLPostgraduate Faculty of ArtsLeader: Sharron PfuellerOfferedClayton First semester 2008 (Evening) SynopsisThis unit equips students with understanding of basic tools for environmental analysis and decision making for sustainability and skills in their application. It will look at a range of techniques for attributing value to the environment including those based on economics e.g. cost benefit analysis, as well as tools for evaluating planning and policy decisions. These include environmental and social impact assessment, risk analysis, strategic and integrated assessment, life cycle analysis, state-of-environment reporting, modelling, auditing, monitoring and scenario building. Throughout, the dynamic interaction between scientists, policy makers and the broader community will be explored. Objectives
