ENE3048 - Energy and the environment6 points, SCA Band 2, 0.125 EFTSLUndergraduate Faculty of EngineeringLeader: A ZahediOfferedClayton Second semester 2008 (Day) SynopsisEnergy resources, chain, and energy conversion processes; non-renewable (fossil, nuclear) and renewable (photovoltaic, wind, hydro-, biomass) sources of energy; environmental impact of electricity generation; energy storage technologies; direct and indirect energy conversion; overview of the world and Australian energy production and consumption; the future energy scenarios. ObjectivesTo understand: the principles of energy conversion technologies, the environmental problems associated with these technologies, alternative energy technologies the environmental benefits of these technologies, engineering and economical aspects of alternative energies.
