ECX5420 - Applied macroeconomics6 points, SCA Band 3, 0.125 EFTSLPostgraduate Faculty of Business and EconomicsLeader: Professor Jakob MadsenOfferedCaulfield First semester 2008 (Evening) SynopsisThe focus is on practical questions about how to achieve national economic growth and control inflation in the context of a global economy, with special attention to policy formulation and implementation and the dilemmas facing decision-makers in the government and private sectors. Macroeconomic forecasting and the methods for analysing the short-term and long-term trends are also considered. Australia's experience during the last two decades, in particular the impact of the Asian Currency Crisis, are examined closely. Assessment
