Synopsis

Applications of database, statistical and machine learning techniques for the exploration of data in databases. Tools including self-organising maps, Bayesian classification, decision trees and neural networks. Statistical methods including regression and significance testing. Data preparation and data quality.

One x 2hr lecture/week, one x 2hr tutorial/week

Prerequisites

Entry into one of the Faculty's technical Masters degrees (MIT, MMC, MNC, MCS, MDC) OR 24 points of FIT PG level units (for students enrolled in one of the above).
