Synopsis

Contemporary issues in, and the technologies of, integrated information systems for business enterprises; accounting processes and process oriented business information systems; databases for accounting information systems including database theory, design and development where students will develop and implement a practical accounting database design; design and development of

sophisticated financial management models using business analytics and the advanced features of a modern spreadsheet package.

Objectives

The learning objectives of this unit are to:

  • explain the relationship between accounting information systems and processes and enterprise systems;
  • apply database management concepts in the context of accounting systems;
  • use SAP to produce information for decision making;
  • analyse, communicate, and apply the model-building and model-solving concepts of management science in the context of accounting systems;
  • apply critical thinking, problem solving and presentation skills to individual and/or group activities dealing with advanced accounting information systems.
