English as an international language - Faculty of Arts

Offered by the School of Languages Cultures and Linguistics

The English as an international language (EIL) program offers a range of innovative undergraduate and postgraduate courses related to the study of English as a language of intercultural and international communication. The graduates of EIL program will gain an advanced understanding of the professional and international use of English. Students have the option of studying EIL in combination with other majors such as business, commerce, and languages to increase their area of expertise and therefore increase their chance of finding excellent job opportunities. This course is available to international and local students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

For students who cannot attend in person, the first-year EIL units are also available in the off-campus learning mode. The units offered are EIL 1010 (English as an international language: communications) and EIL 1020 (English as an international language: Language and Critical analysis). For more information about this option, contact the program convenor.
