Areas of research specialisation include media studies, history and theory of mass media, visual culture; applied linguistics, sociolinguistics, second language acquisition, German for special purposes, discourse and text analysis; contemporary German literature, sociology of literature, aesthetics, literary theory, comparative literature, poetics, rhetoric and cultural studies; cultural anthropology, Weimar Classic, Romanticism, political theatre, travel literature, psychoanalytic theory, cultural identity, migration and bilingualism.
