Course description

The Bachelor of Innovation and Enterprise provides professional education in a range of areas including leadership, entrepreneurship, creativity and innovation. The course is a multi faculty program offered by the Faculty of Business and Economics, the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Information Technology.

Course objectives

The learning goals of this course are to: acquire skills in written and oral communication, negotiation, teamwork and change management; develop the capacity for critical thought and analysis, problem solving, inquiry and research, taking into account professional ethics and moral and social responsibility; develop the ability to use information technology in supporting and empowering individuals and enterprises; develop the capacity for leadership, entrepreneurship, creativity and innovation; develop the capacity to integrate and synthesise knowledge from different disciplines to achieve innovative solutions to business problems.

Course structure

The course structure has four main components:

  • a major from one of the participating faculties
  • either a second major or two sub majors from the participating faculties
  • an innovation and enterprise project
  • elective units from the participating faculties

Course requirements

The degree requires completion of 24 units (144 points) as follows:

(a) 16 units (96 points) as follows:

(i) two eight unit majors (96 points) which together form an approved combination for the course or

(ii) one eight unit major (48 points) and two four unit sub-majors (48 points) which together form an approved combination for the course.

The approved combinations ensure that:

  • if two majors are chosen they are from different faculties
  • if one major and two sub-majors are chosen, each will be from a different faculty.

(b) BEW3300 Innovation and enterprise project (12 points)

(c) six electives units (36 points) chosen from the three faculties on the Berwick campus.

Additional degree requirements:

  • a maximum of 10 first-year-level units (60 points).
  • a minimum of six units (36 points) at third-year level.
  • in addition to specific unit prerequisites, third-year level units require the successful completion of two second-year level units and second-year level units require the successful completion of four first-year level units
