Bachelor of Music/Bachelor of Performing ArtsCourse code: 3774 ~ Course abbreviation: BMus/BPA ~ Total credit points required: 192 ~ 4 years full-time, 8 years part-time ~ Managing faculty: Arts Study mode and course locationOn-campus (Clayton) Course descriptionThis double degree course allows students to qualify with both the Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Performing Arts degrees. The combined Bachelor of Music/Bachelor of Performing Arts course provides students with an opportunity to develop their performance and academic skills in music, while expanding their analytical and critical knowledge of other performing arts disciplines. The program will be particularly appropriate to students who wish to pursue creative enterprises that cross existing boundaries, genres and disciplines, such as musical theatre and multimedia performance. Students will undertake the discipline-based component of the BPA in drama and theatre studies. They will be encouraged to open their horizons of understanding and imagination to the many new materials, ideas and values with which they will be confronted. Course objectivesStudents will gain experience in specific musical training and instruction as appropriate, with the added benefit of a broader practical and academic experience in the performing arts. Course structureStudents must complete 96 points in the Bachelor of Music component and 96 points in the Bachelor of Performing Arts component. Course requirementsMusic component(a) students must complete 16 units (96 points) from the School of Music as follows: (i) core music units (84 points) :
(ii) plus two (12 points) from the following list:
