The honours degree of Bachelor of Visual ArtsCourse code: 2961 ~ Course abbreviation: BVA(Hons) ~ Total credit points required: 48 ~ 1 year full-time ~ Managing faculty: Art and Design Study mode and course locationOn-campus (Caulfield/Gippsland - F/T only) Course descriptionThis course offers a program of education in the discipline and practice of visual arts and provides students with the opportunity to intensively study areas of their own choice. Course objectivesStudents who complete the honours degree of the Bachelor of Visual Arts will, in addition to having met the objectives of the pass degree (from either the Caulfield or Gippsland campuses), have acquired a capacity for advanced work in an area of the visual arts, together with a critical understanding of visual arts theory and practice. Graduates of the honours degree also acquire a capacity to undertake research in the visual arts. Course structureThe course consists of the following: (a) visual arts studio projects (30 points) (b) honours-level research studies (12 points) (c) elective (6 points) (d) occupational health and safety (0 points), if not previously passed or exempted.
