Course description

This course is designed as an alternative entry pathway to university study. The program is particularly suited to students requiring additional learning support in their first year of study. Course Objective

Students who have successfully completed this course may be eligible to apply to enter a Monash degree and receive some credit for their studies in this diploma .

Course structure

Course requirements

The course comprises 48 points, made up of eight first-level degree or diploma units. One unit per semester will be a core unit, taken by all diploma students. These units are:

DTS1611 Understanding university learning

DTS1612 Knowledge and context

In addition, each semester, students will undertake three discipline-based units offered by participating faculties. The disciplines include:

Arts

Australian Indigenous studies, communications, criminal justice, history-politics, journalism, psychological studies, public relations, social and community welfare, sociology, writing.

Art and Design

Visual arts - studio stream or digital stream.

Business and Economics

Accounting, business law, economics, human resource management, international business, management, marketing.

Civil and Environmental Engineering

Chemistry, engineering systems, environmental science, mathematics, physical science.

Education

Physical education, primary teaching.

Information Technology

Applications development and networks, business systems

Nursing

Nursing practice, health and human behaviour, multicultural nursing.

Science

Basic mathematics, biology, chemistry, environmental science, physical science.
